High Accuracy Classification of Populations with Breast Cancer: SVM Approach

Philip de MeloMane Davtyan

Cancer Research JournalVolume 11, Issue 3, September 2023
Pages: 94-104
DOI: 10.11648/j.crj.20231103.13
Published: Aug. 15, 2023
Abstract: Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers diagnosed in the United States. Breast cancer can occur in both men and women. The number of deaths associated with this disease is steadily declining, largely due to factors such as earlier detection and a new personalized approach to treatment. In this article, we offer a highly accurate and reliable classification approach based on feature engineering and an improved support vector machine (SVM) classifier. We examine a dataset with 30 features and use in-depth data analytics and visualization to pinpoint the top nine features that have a significant impact on classification accuracy. The SVM classification outperformed other classifiers, including kernel extensions, with a high accuracy of 99.12%. The study stresses the value of machine learning in medical diagnosis, notably in the early detection of breast cancer, and indicates the possibility for further research in this area utilizing deep learning architectures. Early detection of breast cancer is critical, and our findings contribute to the growing body of knowledge in this area, opening new avenues for improving cancer diagnosis and patient care.

Characterization of Natural Regeneration of Three Local Multipurpose Tree Species in the Ouaddaï sahelian Zone of Chad

Brahim Abdoulaye, Fawa Guidawa, Wangbitching Jean de Dieu, Van Damme Patrick, Mapongmetsem Pierre Marie

American Journal of Agriculture and Forestry,
Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2023
Pages: 151-160
DOI: 10.11648/j.ajaf.20231104.15
Published: Aug. 04, 2023
Abstract: In the Sahelian zone of Ouaddaï in Chad, Balanites aegyptiaca (L.), Sclerocarya birrea (A. Rich.) and Ziziphus mauritiana Lam. are multipurpose woody species that are found in agroforestry land use systems and contribute to the nutrition, health and economy of local populations. The purpose of the study is to assess the natural regeneration and population structure of these species in view to contribute to their domestication. The study was carried out in three land use systems (farms, fallows and savannahs). Regeneration characterization consist in a carefull excavation of root system of mother – tree and of regenerations to distinguish suckers from seedlings. The origin of the plant (sucker or seedling) was determined by carefully checking of the root system to see if there was a connection between the root of the regenerations and that of the mother – tree. In addition to the prudent excavation of the root system of the regenerations, their dendrometric parameters as well as those of the mother – tree were determined. Results show that populations of these species are not uniformly distributed in land use systems of the area. The mean density of the trees varied significantly between species (0.000<0.001) as well as in land use systems (0.000<0.001). Trees of wide diameter are significantly more abundant in farms than in savannahs (0.000<0.001). Among the 10151 juvenile trees recorded in plots, 59.58% are reiterations; 33.62% seedlings while 6.79% are suckers. S. birrea presented the highest natural suckering percentage. S. birrea shows a highest suckering percentage in the three land use systems while the lowest was that of B. aegyptiaca. The highest natural root suckering percentage is registered in fallows (7.14% in B. aegyptiaca, 12.57% in Z. mauritiana and 14.77% in S. birrea). The ecological conditions favourable to natural root suckering were those of farms whereas those of fallows were suitable for the growth and rooting of suckers. These results suggest the urgent needs to promote low coast vegetative propagation techniques like root suckering for the domestication of these important tree species.

The Effect of Bumper Dimensions and Car Speed on Neck and Lower Back Forces

Mithat Yanikoren, Muhammet Murat Hocaoglu, Bilal Usanmaz, Omer Gundogdu

International Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Applications,
Volume 11, Issue , August 2023
Pages: 74-80
DOI: 10.11648/j.ijmea.20231104.11
Published: Aug. 15, 2023
Abstract: Vehicle vibrations significantly affect the health and comfort of the driver and passengers. The aim of this study is to analyze the effects of vertical vehicle vibrations caused by speed bumpers on the driver’s lower back and neck in terms of forces. To achieve this goal, a human biodynamic model with 11 degrees of freedom was included in a half vehicle model with 5 degrees of freedom. This composite human vehicle model was subjected to half-sinusoidal shaped bumps of different sizes (heights and widths) and with different vehicle speeds. The equations of motion of the system were solved using MATLAB (R2021a) to find the forces acting on the lower back and neck joint. In this article, besides commenting on the speed of the cars passing through the bumps, the effect of the bumps on the driver’s lower back and neck was tried to be deduced in terms of forces. The results are presented visually and comparatively in graphs. At the end of the article, it was concluded that the mentioned speed bumps should be designed considering human comfort and health. In addition, in biomechanical studies examining human-vehicle-road interaction, it was emphasized that the parameter values of the human body should be determined more realistically.

Published: Aug. 09, 2023
Abstract: In the present work, in the first place, the need for knowledge of trigonometry is argued, both in Mathematics itself and in practical applications; but despite the usefulness and necessity of trigonometry, it can be seen in the specialized bibliography that it is usual for students to present difficulties with the aforementioned contents. For this reason, the work presented here is aimed at determining aspects of this branch of Mathematics that influence the difficulties that students present in their learning; Reasons for these difficulties are specified and precise didactically based guidelines are provided in order to avoid or at least mitigate them. Therefore, the objective of this work is to provide a set of didactic guidelines, with their theoretical foundations, that help teachers in the direction of the teaching-learning process of trigonometry. Obviously, as reflected in the specialized bibliography, the student’s activity is essential for their learning and cognitive development. The theoretical foundations that serve as a basis in a specific way in the proposed proposal are also specified, such as representation register changes, theoretical generalization, and process-to-object transit. The methods used are based on bibliographic review and participant research with a pedagogical experiment to check the results obtained.

Abstract: The traditional handicrafts of making Xuan paper are included in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. It is a historical relic and summarization of human production and life experiences, and an important carrier of traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, and civilization. Taking the planning of Xuan paper Town in Anhui as an example, this paper proposes a mode of inheriting and activating cultural heritage in the form of landscape planning and design led by landscape architects. In terms of industrial upgrading, the planning focuses on the extension and transformation of Xuan paper crafts to calligraphy and painting arts, traditional Chinese culture, and town life; in the spatial layout, taking the famous landscape painting “Traveling in Streams and Mountains” as a clue, it utilizes the existing streams, ravines, pools and valleys on site to arrange major functional zones. The travel experience of visitors in Xuan paper Town is just like an excursion in a landscape painting, allowing them to physically experience the ingenious brushwork and vibrant charm of traditional landscape paintings. The beautiful environment creation and reasonable spatial layout attract calligraphy and painting artists and cultural creative professionals to live and work here, which further draws tourists for sightseeing and travel. In this way, the intangible cultural heritage of Xuan paper production is revitalized into a scenic town with a thriving industry.

Abstract: The objective of this article is to offer an overview of the deterioration of Bolivia’s economic growth, in the period 2013 to 2022, mainly of the macroeconomic variables of study such as gross domestic product, natural gas exports, net international reserves, external debt and imports of diesel and gasoline fuels. Each of these variables are dependent on the foreign currency dollars. In this understanding, the deterioration is mainly due to the fall in gas exports since 2015 that the country’s gas production falls because the government on duty, allocated more investment to exploitation than to exploration, generating a decrease in foreign exchange earnings dollars to the country, failing to cover subsidies for diesel and gasoline fuels imported in dollar foreign currency. This is mainly due to the fact that half of Bolivia’s GDP growth in the last 15 years is due to the sale of gas to Brazil and Argentina in foreign currency in dollars, since it does not cover the subsidies of imported fuels with gas, net international reserves are used to exhaust them at their maximum level. At the same time, the gradual increase in external debt in foreign currency dollar. The fall in gas exports and the increase in imports of diesel and gasoline fuels due to the growth of the vehicle fleet, as reflected in historical data and where we identify the four stages of inflection. In the last stage, it was characterized with a shortage of dollars and a high demand for it by citizens and the government, added to the lack of transparency in the disclosure of information of net international reserves and dependence on non-renewable resources results in a deterioration of the economic growth of the gross domestic product. In addition, Bolivia is characterized by not promoting science, knowledge, qualified human capital, research, development and technological innovation, which led to a high level of informal employment and insufficient productive sustainability in foreign currency. Hide
