XAT 2025 Syllabus

The topics included in the XLRI Jamshedpur XAT 2025 syllabus are General Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation, Verbal & Logical Ability, and Decision Making. The first thing that any serious candidate should do is check over the XAT 2025 syllabus so that they can plan their preparation and leave time for sample exams in the end.

The format of XAT 2025 will be computer-based testing. It is anticipated that the XAT 2025 Syllabus will remain the same as of 2024 and exam notification 2025 will be made public during the first week of June 2024. The Essay Writing section was reinstated in XAT 2022 after being eliminated in XAT 2019. As a result, every question is a multiple-choice question except the essay writing section.

Three sections determine the XAT percentile score:

  • Verbal & Logical Ability
  • Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation
  • Decision Making

Essay writing is only assessed if a applicant is shortlisted for further consideration.

XAT is one of the toughest entry examinations for MBA programs. Every part has a generally higher level of difficulty than the CAT. Furthermore, the Decision Making Section does not follow a set syllabus; instead, it emphasizes the candidate’s analytical abilities and state of mind.

XAT 2025 Syllabus: Overview

The XAT 2025 syllabus is going to be comprehensive but it lacks an official set syllabus like CAT, allowing the convening body more leeway in determining the paper’s format. Before reviewing the XAT 2025 Syllabus, one have to thoroughly review the XAT Exam Pattern. There are five sections of the XAT exam:

XAT 2025 syllabus are as follows:

  • Verbal and Logical Ability
  • Decision Making
  • Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation
  • General Knowledge
  • Essay Writing

It is anticipated that the XAT Exam 2025 marking scheme will be:

  • After eight unattempt questions, there is a 0.10 mark reduction for each additional unattempt question.
  • +1/-0.25

The candidates must decide which questions to leave unanswered carefully because they are not allowed to leave more than eight unanswered.

XLRI Jamshedpur is the administrating body of the XAT 2025 exam but does not officially release the XAT 2025 Syllabus. Previous year XAT papers can serve as a foundation for the XAT 2025 syllabus to get an idea of the questions that will be asked and the subjects that will be covered in the XAT Exam. We have to examine the curriculum section by part to prepare as per the XAT 2025 Syllabus.

XAT 2024 Sections No. of Questions Time
Part 1 Verbal & Logical Ability 26 165 minutes
Decision Making 21
Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation 28
Part 2 General Knowledge 25 15 minutes
Essay Writing 1 10 minutes
Total 101 190 minutes

XAT 2024 Syllabus for Verbal & Logical Ability

This segment combines logical reasoning with verbal ability and reading comprehension (VARC). For planning purposes, it is divided into three separate sections:

Verbal Ability

The Verbal and Logical Ability section of the CAT 2025 Syllabus is comparable to the VA section. As a result, the following subjects are typically tested on the XAT Exam and are therefore included in the XAT 2025 Syllabus:

  • Vocabulary Based Questions
  • Fill in the blanks
  • Synonyms/ Antonyms
  • Contextual Meaning of Words
  • Jumbled paragraphs
  • Correction of Errors in Sentences
  • Correct Usage of Words
  • Completion of Sentences
  • Completion of Paragraph
  • Cloze Test
  • Poem

Reading Comprehension

As to the XAT 2025 Syllabus, the following categories of questions are asked in the RC section:

  • Information-Based Question
  • Author’s View type of question
  • Inference based Question
  • Main Concept and Purpose of the Passage
  • True/False Statements based on the Passage
  • Explanation of Words/Phrases in the Passage

Logical Reasoning

According to the XAT 2025 Syllabus, the subjects that are often tested in the Logical Reasoning section include:

  • Clocks & Calendars

  • Binary Logic
  • Seating Arrangement
  • Blood Relations
  • Logical Sequences
  • Assumption, Premise, and Conclusion

XAT 2024 Syllabus: Decision Making

The Decision Making section of the XAT 2025 Syllabus is exclusive when compared to the other MBA Entrance test. To assess the candidate’s aptitude for problem- and case-solving, it measures their presence of mind and situation-reading abilities. This part typically includes more than 20 questions, and in XAT 2023, there were 22 questions in it.

The following subjects are typically tested in this part, as per the XAT 2025 Syllabus:

  • Conditioning and Grouping Tests
  • Data Arrangement Test
  • Complex Arrangement
  • Decision Making in a situation
  • Case lets

Candidates are advised to complete as many previous XAT exam papers as they can to get ready for the section on decision-making in the XAT 2025 syllabus. This will guarantee that the applicants are conversant with both the section’s subjects and the XAT Exam’s language.

XAT 2024 Syllabus: Data Interpretation & Quantitative Skills

This section like the Verbal capability section combines the Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation sections of the CAT. There were 28 questions in the XAT Exam 2023; the largest number in previous years was 33 in the XAT Exam 2015.

Quantitative Ability

The CAT Syllabus and the XAT Syllabus for the Quantitative Ability part are identical. The subjects based on the previous years’ XAT Papers that serve as a foundation for the XAT 2025 Syllabus are as follows:

  • LCM and HCF
  • Percentages
  • Profit and Loss
  • Interest (Simple and Compound)
  • Speed, Time and Distance;
  • Time and Work;
  • Averages;
  • Ratio and Proportion and others
  • Number System
  • Algebra
  • Geometry including Co-ordinate Geometry
  • Mensuration
  • Pure Math
  • Venn diagrams
  • Linear Equations
  • Quadratic Equations
  • Complex Numbers
  • Logarithm
  • Progressions
  • Binomial Theorem
  • Surds and Indices
  • Inequalities
  • Permutation and Combination
  • Probability Functions
  • Set Theory
  • Mixtures and Alligations
  • Trigonometry

It’s crucial to begin preparing as soon as possible because the quantitative section of the XAT 2025 syllabus is quite long. It is not sufficient to only grasp the fundamentals because the XAT questions are harder than the CAT questions.

To become acclimated to that degree of difficulty, candidates may benefit from studying for the Quantitative Ability part with an eye toward the XAT rather than the CAT.

DataInterpretation

The Data Interpretation section of the XAT 2025 syllabus includes the following:

  • Data Tables
  • Data Charts
  • Bar Diagrams
  • Pie Charts
  • Graphs
  • Data Analysis and Comparison

The questions in this section are typically asked in sets just like with the CAT but occasionally, single questions may also be asked.

XAT Syllabus 2024 for General Knowledge

This is an additional section that is not tested by CAT. The XAT percentiles are determined using the first three parts even though the section is present.

This component of the XAT 2025 syllabus covers both traditional GK (trivia) and current affairs. This section’s frequently asked questions cover the following subjects:

  • Economics and Finance
  • National and International Current Affairs
  • Constitution of India and Laws
  • Capitals and Currencies
  • Famous Personalities
  • Books and Authors

XAT 2024 Syllabus for Essay Writing

Up until XAT 2018, the essay writing section was part of the XAT exam syllabus. After that, it was eliminated. But XLRI Jamshedpur brought back the essay writing section for XAT 2022.

The single descriptive question in the XAT 2025 syllabus is in the essay writing section. Candidates should anticipate an increase of 10 minutes in the overall exam time with the addition of this section. Writing essays covers a wide range of subjects and has an endless supply of potential questions. While candidates in XAT 2023 had to select one essay topic from three alternatives, those in XAT 2022 had to choose between two pre-given topics.
